Rag Rug

So thanks to this video I decided to give it a go using one of my favorite bed sheets of my late Nana's that was stained and ripped, and for the base one of my son's old baby blankets.
luckily the stripes were 1 inch wide so cutting was easy (only took 3 hours)

so this is what a queen size bed sheet looks like all cut into strips

part way through I didn't like the look or feel of the strips being 4 inches long so I cut them in half and liked it better

as you can see I now have a funky new bath mat, was playing around with directions and stuff, nothing in any real order, just playing around. I think it turned out well, at least usable lol

First Sewing Project

So I have decided I want to make blankets for the homeless this year. Slowly getting donations in of tshirts since it takes about 10 for one blanket. Finished my first one today and even though I messed up on a few steps, I think it turned out pretty good. This past Christmas my boyfriend got me a new sewing machine with all these extras and I was thrilled to get it but also apprehensive since I'm so new at sewing. So far I found a great Facebook group with a connecting YouTube channel of how to videos that correspond to my machine, and it's been so helpful.
So this is the finished blanket

This is it all folded into it's pocket with a flap and ties shut at the bottom.

This is the back with straps so it's easier to carry around.

Ta Daaa!!!
I can't wait to get more shirts in and get started on more. In 2 days I learned so much and can't wait to try out more stuff on my machine.
Paying it forward and helping the community is great too ;)
